Tivat is a coastal town in the central part of Boka bay under Vrmac Hill in the foot of Lovcen Mountain. The bay of Tivat is turned to the west and north-west and is a part of Tivatsko-Topljanski bay which forms the outer part of Boka bay. It is connected with the inner Risan-Kotor bay through defile Verige. Mild Mediterranean climate with many sunny days in a year makes Tivat a perfect place for summer holidays at the beach and water sports in winter.
A part of tourist resorts is placed on the long Tivat coast which goes from Lepetani to Bigovo, and it is partly connected with the bay and partly turned to the open sea (Blue Horizon) Other part of Tivat has two beautiful islands: Island of Flowers and St Marc.
Remnants of culture speak about the continuity of life in Tivat area from Bronze Age (20th century BC) and Ilyric, through Roman reign, medieval domination of different forces and cultures from Venetian, Turkish to Austrian empire. The most significant remnants date from Middle Ages. These are many temples and churches, which brought the name "BAY OF SAINTS" to this bay.
